    • Just wondered if there’s going to an official update on this event? It looked like a really friendly event, exactly the sort of thing to get friends and families interested in the ‘muddy side’. Unfortunately as Valentine’s Day coincided with half-term this year we couldn’t make it, so holding out for next year.

    My tuppence.
    New bike: discs
Building from the ‘biscuit box’: wheel dependant – but err towards discs where possible.

    Discs weigh more. About:
half a lap’s worth of mud,
a mile or so of a gloopy bridleway,
    a ‘personal clearout’,
an irrelevant anmount more if you have anything less than single figure fat percentages.

basically, if you have the…[Read more]

Hi Darren, welcome to the world of #dirtydropbargoodness,

For the grit.cx team the best things to focus on are the expensive things to change – and that goes for any bike, not just a crosser.

Dont get distracted by extra shiny rear mech upgrades and the like, focus on the best frame you can get, alongside some good wheels. Both will have the…[Read more]

For my money – personal opinion, not the official grit.cx opinion you understand, i’d make sure the BB was upgraded. If i could, i get more expensive shifters, as the internals stay nicer for longer. Other than that, the groupset generally just weighs more. Good cables help too.

I’d spend the money on hubs, and get hand-built wheels made up with…[Read more]
