The Grinduro Returns for 2016
Take a gravel road race, add a mountain bike-style enduro and you’ll get the Grinduro.
“One long loop of road and dirt, where finishing times aren’t based on overall loop time, but timed segments.”
Returning for its second year – and back in Quincy, California – the Giro, Charge Bikes and SRAM sponsored event seeks to not only combine race genres, but to bring a festival feel to the weekend with live music, good food, camping and an art/bike show.
The race format will mimic the inaugural event (with a gran fondo-style mass start and a series of timed segments), but details of the actual timed segments will not be released until two weeks prior to race day. It has been confirmed that contestants will compete on timed sections over a roughly 60-mile route with about 8,000 feet of climbing, however.
Head over to the Grinduro website for more details. Entries open April 17.
Like the sound of the event, but live on the other side of the Atlantic? We’ve heard whispers of something a little closer to home next year. When we know more, you’ll know more.
