Event: Keystone Gravel: More dirty drop bar enduro fun.
Central Pennsylvania is home to lots of beautiful rolling hills and plenty of prime gravel roads, all of which combine to offer the ideal venue for the second installment of Keystone Gravel. Billed as “Pennsylvania’s Premiere Gravelduro,” this unique event falls in line with the budding trend of combining mountain bike-style enduro racing with gravel road racing.
The course employs 6000 feet of climbing, covering about 60 miles of gravel, tarmac and “grass singletrack.” Five timed segments will determine the winner of the event, but race organizers stress the community fun aspect of the event.
“KeystoneGravel is a promotion of Pennsylvania rural cycling with strong emphasis on riding together in groups to enjoy the beautiful PA countryside and roll into aid stations together to enjoy the treats.”
As with all properly awesome events, quality après riding celebrations will follow the end of competition. All participants will enjoy an afterparty with gourmet food, beer and live music on a 300 acre farm. The $60 registration fee includes all of that, as well as camping on the farm and fully-stocked aid stations along the way.
Keystone Gravel goes down on 17 September in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. Despite the peculiar name of the town, we assure you it is quite landlocked in the mountains of Pennsylvania…several hours from the actual beaches of New Jersey.
