More shiny new bikes: Lapierre Crosshill 2017
Lapierre today launches the Crosshill – a gravel bike – and the Cross Carbon – a cyclocross bike. Hannah was out at the press launch a couple weeks ago, so here’s a closer look at the Crosshill.
This is the Crosshill 500 – there’s also a lower specced Crosshill 300. Excuse the flat pedals – Hannah had gone out to test mountain bikes and discovered this while she was there.
It’s an alloy frame with carbon fork.
Clearance for up to 50mm tyres is claimed.
Oh these Shwalbe tyres are pretty.
Quite a long stem – Hannah tested the medium, and felt that she’d probably shorten the stem if she was going to ride it for any length of time.
That hoverfly came into land. So, gratuitous arty photo.
There are thru axles both ends for increased stiffness when carrying luggage, and there’s all the eyelets you could need to carry that luggage.
The chainstays are slightly longer than the Cross Carbon, although the overall wheelbase is very similar.
So, it’s good looking, it’s well equipped, what’s it like to ride? Well I only had time for a quick spin out on it between mountain bikes, but it was so much fun I made time to take it out again. It rolls well and feels fun off road. I felt well balanced, confident – straight away I was seeking out more technical trails between the vineyards and wondering where else I could take it. Prices are yet to be confirmed but the bike will be available through Hotlines once it is released. Our name’s on the list for a proper test run in due course.
